Open help center articles in new browser tab

Our clients have fed back to us that they sometimes want to expand the help centre widget by opening an article into its own browser tab or window. This is because longer articles are easier to read and/or images/video are bigger and easier to view.

  • Thanks for sharing Mark!

Currently a button like this already exists in the widget. People can click on the "read online" button to open the article in their browser:

  • Jonathan I would love to attach you to this post, as you requested a similar feature. I guess Mark might be interested in having this feature more clear as all (like you did). Therefor I am adding you to this topic, so I can share any updates on this wish here.

Tamara Berner thank you. I am aware that there's such a button / link. But it's not logically placed and therefore easily overseen (it happened to me too). A more logical position would be below the article text (or, in case of displaying the search results to a user: below the suggested articles), because that is where people have their focus on at that moment.

So I really think the button position could be improved so people more easily see the functionality. After all: there's a reason why uers like Mark and myself requested this feature. 😉

Jonathan Thanks for sharing and it does make a lot of sense! I will count Mark and you in on this wish and keep you updated here if there's any news regarding this feature.

Tamara Berner okay perfect. Maybe better then to change this idea's status to 'under review' instead of 'completed'

  • Hi everybody!

We have launched a new website widget this week, the button is still in the same place, but due to the colorization it is more clear in our opinion, can you please tell me if an update is still desired?

Tamara Berner we're still struggling to get users to see this link. A lot of users miss it. I've resorted to trying to highlight it better with the text but looks a bit rubbish. Would be good to make this look like a proper button rather than a link that's barely visible.

We've started using iorad.com to create interactive guides and these are best viewed in larger windows.
