How to sort tickets by updatedate in API

Hi there, I would like to have the API sort the tickets by the field "updated_at", because I want to list only yesterday's tickets, but I don't seem to get it working.

According to the manual (, I can do some sort of sorting, but the explanation says:

"Orders by last messages at, 'date' orders at oldest first"

and I can't really figure out what that means. You can only sort by ascending??

but the updated_at is ignored....
